Editor and Sales Director
With a training in graphic design, window dressing, presentation and packaging, Angie worked for several years in the early 1970s as a Photographic Stylist and Studio Props Manager for some of the busiest London photographic studios. After taking a year out in 1976 to travel through Europe (and making jewellery to sell in the street markets of Florence), she returned to London to work as P.A. for a London Design Agency – where she met Paul.
Working in Photography, Advertising and Design in London in the late 70s and early 80s was hectic and fun; the arrival of Angie & Paul’s daughter Jennie in 1981 coincided with their venture into selling their handmade greetings cards at craft fairs and subsequently the launch of their new Craftsman Magazine.
Since then their business has grown and flourished, moving from the South of England to a small East Yorkshire village in 1987, close to where Angie was born. Various projects that she’s worked on since then have required different skills – co-organising Craft Aid, a national charity fund raising event; co-organising the Craftmaker Shows for several years; hosting Business Advice seminars; being an elected member of the Governing Body of The Association of Creative Craft & Art during the Association’s most active years; working as Writer and Editor, producing Craftsman Magazine (with her husband, Paul) since 1983, revamping and relaunching it in 2007 as craft&design.
Angie likes to spend her spare time cooking, reading, growing vegetables, walking in the Yorkshire countryside and coastal areas where she lives, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, who was born in 2010. She is also a fully qualified Yoga teacher and holds regular weekly classes in her local area.
