    Starting the Year on the Right Footing
    Here we are at the beginning of a new year that will see lots happening around the UK. Our craft&design Selected Awards and Craft and Design Month, oh and I think there's those small things like the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee of course, so here is our first Newsletter of the year to start you off. There are things of interest for all, from calls for entries to computer security techniques and new copyright legislation.

    State of the Market Survey
    Here are some of the interim results showing how many of our readers see the current state of affairs in the UK craft industry; interestingly, more than 92% say that they are as confident, if not more confident, of the survival of their businesses than this time last year! There's news about people working with Pottery, Glass, Textiles, Leather and Jewellery plus reminders about forthcoming Craft Fairs & Trade Shows, Exhibitions & Galleries, Awards and Opportunities for both established and new makers - there's some rather nice success stories too.

    We launch our 2010 craft&design Selected Awards for designer makers on 1st January; Robin Wood takes the award for 'Artisan of the Year' with Country Living Magazine and Cockpit Arts launch a new award for established makers. We're looking for people to feature in a new BBC TV series; there's news from across the UK about forthcoming trade and public events & exhibitions, plus a reassuring success story involving 'copycat' goods from China.
