  • Lost Wax Casting - We currently sell sterling silver charms but would like to start making our own using wax carved models. Does anyones know where we could get the items cast, we are looking for a company that takes short runs (20, 50 & 100) of small charms (about 15 x 12 x 4mm). Any does anyone have any idea how the pricing works for things like this ?

  • Hi - I'm also looking for someone who can quote for very small runs (10 at a time) for silver or brass castings for belt buckles. The last company that I used for this service (Castaway - no longer trading?) made a mouldmaking charge, and then a price for each item with a pro-rata discount, and a small hallmarking charge if you wanted hallmarked metal but didn't have your own hallmark.

  • Hi there

My partner is a silversmith/jeweller who does his own casting - he used to send his work away but as he is a perfectionist he was not always satisfied with the results - on quite a few occasions he had to send the work back to be recast - so last summer he decided to invest in his own industrial size casting machine and associated machinery - he now does mould making and casting (including ethical gold and silver) for quite a few other jewellers - he has just done a batch of several different charms for jeweller who has been delighted with the results -His prices are highly competitive and as I said before he is a perfectionist - so the quality is assured.

  • Hi I am the "perfectionist partner" and silversmith referred to in the above post. I would just like to make it clear I bought a new casting machine last year but have in fact been casting for over 30 years. I have a full CAD/CAM facility and can make charms and jewellery of any type and design. I will work with you to create your ideal design and I will respect your copyright and offer a full guarantee on my work.

  • Hi, I use Niagara Falls Castings based in Warwick or St Justin in Long Rock, Penzance.

Depends whether you want the pieces fully finished or part finished - if fully finished then St Justin.

Would happily recommend both of them though
