International Textile Exhibition

Trip to the End of the World is the theme this touring exhibition from the 23rd Le Carrefour Europeen du Patchwork textile competition. The exhibition contains pieces selected by a panel of international judges from artists from around the world, using traditional techniques including patchwork, quilting and embroidery are used to create beautiful textileart.

Dionne Swift: Maker in Focus

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
Award winning Textile Artist, Dionne Swift paints with cloth and thread to create an intuitive, emotional response to the landscape. Her energetic style is evident through drawings and stitch based work, she builds layers of texture and colour, mixing threads to create semi abstract scenes. As well as wall based work, Dionne will be showing her hand painted and embroidered scarves and lampshades.

Eastern Influence

Exploring the dialogue between east and west, our group exhibition features the work of four artists brought together through their shared expression of the technical skill and spirit of the oriental arts. Through their craft, Tim Andrews, Adam Frew, Hendrike Barz-Meltzer and Nao Fukumoto O'Neill explore the rich aesthetic of the Far East, which continues to infuse western contemporary craft.

Exquisite Japanese Embroidery

This unique art form originated in Buddhist temples and is used for the elaborate decoration of Kimonos. This rarely taught skill has been based at Hawkwood for over sixteen years. Using traditional methods and techniques you will produce truly stunning works of art and learn about Japanese culture. All levels are welcome.

Launch yourself into the wonderful world of sewing and dressmaking with this one day workshop with Claire Humphries. Learn how to find your way around your sewing machine - select the correct foot, needle and thread, building your knowledge of your machine. Learn techniques such as seaming and neatening edges and how these vary in different fabrics.
