Full Day Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Winner of the Gold Award for Glass, Steve Robinson is a glass artist specialising in kiln-fusing. Steve is one of only a few professional glass artists working with enamel powders to colour the glass (rather than pre-coloured glass). He has developed his own techniques for working with these enamels, which he will share with you. You'll make your own large wall hanging and some smaller pieces. Book by: 19 June '18

Introduction to pattern cutting

Make a simple tunic shape to suit your figure type. This is a one day course for a small number of people where you get step by step instructions to create a very basic simple tunic, from which you can make other tops and dresses at a later stage in any fabric, no button holes, no zips - just simple creative fun, with lots of suggestions and advice on further adaptions at a later stage.

A Quirky Workshop - Making an Original Traditional English Long Bow with Tony Saunders

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
During this two day course you will start with a selected quarter length of ash called a stave which will be reduced using the traditional axe and bill hook tools of yesteryear. In time the students will each move onto a shavehorse where the draw knife and finally spoke shave will be the tool of choice. The stave will then be 'trained' and finally the bow string made.

During this workshop, under Gwens guidance, you will create a tall porcelain vase embellished with your own beautiful textures and patterns from lace and embroidery.
You will be shown how to incorporate 'spriggs' within your vase to create your own lavishly decorated but functional piece of art.

The Art of Spinning - Spinning Yarns, Spinning Wheels & Drop Spindles with Marion Woolcott

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Learn about different types of sheep and their corresponding fleeces, their various merits for different uses with many samples on hand to explore.
You will then go through how to sort a fleece and how to prepare the fibres using hand carders, moving on to spinning on a drop spindle and then a spinning wheel. Finally you will learn to ply yarns and use a niddy noddy.

Stained Glass Panel Making with Jackie Hunt

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Come and create your own beautiful stained glass panel in two days. You'll work with coloured, clear and textured glass; learn how to handle and cut it safely and to 'lead up' a small (approx 200mm or 8" square) panel.
All glass, tools and equipment are provided.
Suitable for Beginners and above.
