A Day Discovering Raku - Pottery Workshop

This course is suitable for beginners, with no experience of pottery.
Raku firing is unique and one of the most dramatic and
exciting ways to fire pottery. It was developed in Japan
in the 16th century for the Japanese tea ceremony.

Furniture Painting Techniques

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Under Sonja Tileard's guidance and working on simple boards you will learn the various techniques of using chalk paints including distressing and waxing techniques that will be explained,shown and practiced.
Students can then work on their own small piece of furniture such as a picture frame or a small stool, chair, tiny table etc and renovate it after lunch using the learned techniques.

If the actual drawing of your subject is a worry you'll be glad to know that many students trace the outlines, then concentrate on applying the paint.
This course is about all aspects of correct painting techniques, not learning to draw.

Soft Basketry Techniques

Join Averil for the day and learn all about soft basketry techniques, over the course of the day it will be possible to produce several containers, maybe 3 or 4 depending on your choice. A lovely relaxing, productive and 'in touch with nature' day.

Day Course in Pizza Oven Building with David Alty

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Starting with an existing plinth we will prepare, level and install the fire brick base. A brief chat about clay selection and its time to get down and dirty with shoes and socks off, treading the cob. Whilst this is going on we will make a sand former and everyone will take turns at every task. Now for the construction; forming cob loves we will cover the former to create an oven.
