Silver Clay Workshop - 'Inspired by Nature' . . . with Jo Dix

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Create a piece of jewellery out of art clay, a fabulous medium for making just about shape - from the simplest piece to the most organic and intricate patterns. These, once fired, turn your clay project into Fine Silver (99.9% pure) which is a higher quality that the jewellery "norm" of Sterling Silver (92.5%). A Day Discovering Raku - Pottery Workshop

Figure Sculpture in Clay

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Damien Rochford is a largely self taught contemporary figurative sculptor inspired by the likes of Henry Moore, August Rodin and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. He will travel from Hampshire in late July to offer separate workshop days in both Life Head Sculpture and figurative sculpture work.

Furniture Painting Techniques

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Under Sonja Tileard's guidance and working on simple boards you will learn the various techniques of using chalk paints including distressing and waxing techniques that will be explained,shown and practiced.
Students can then work on their own small piece of furniture such as a picture frame or a small stool, chair, tiny table etc and renovate it after lunch using the learned techniques.

Intro to Pattern Cutting with Dr Maggie Tonar Edgar

Make a simple tunic shape to suit your figure type. On one day course you get step by step instructions to create a very basic simple tunic, from which you can make other tops and dresses at a later stage in any fabric, no button holes, no zips - just simple creative fun,with lots of suggestions and advice on further adaptions at a later stage.

Introduction to Batik

Using cotton or calico fabrics, a vibrant range of fabric dyes and beeswax from the Cycle Cafe's own bee hives you will create your own pictures design under Caroline's careful guidance, which will be then coloured over in a number of stages using a wax resist.
