Drawing in Charcoal and Graphite

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
You'll be introduced to a range of techniques using the swift, flexible media of graphite sticks and charcoal. Subject matter and approaches and the emphasis will be less on accuracy and more on discovering an open and natural way of working.

Introduction to Blacksmithing

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
During the Blacksmithing day workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn and experience the ancient elements of forge work: fire use and maintenance, heating the steel to around 1000 C, and hammering it on an anvil to produce graceful and long lasting items for day-to-day use.

Rockingham Castle Country Fair

Process - Form - Colour

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
In 2015 Cirencester based sculptor, Rory Young, installed seven new painted stone statues in the empty medieval niches in the nave screen at St Albans Cathedral; the statues and preparatory work, designs, sketches and full and scaled maquettes are presented publicly at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester for the first time. Part of the Abbey900 celebration.

The Summer Show

Goldwork and Silk Embroidery

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
This two day Goldwork class will cover the basics and some more advanced methods of applying gold threads to cloth.
The design has been inspired by a wood carved ceiling boss from chester cathedral. The hare symbolism is widely used in the Cotswold area with the motif appearing in both roman mosaics and in Cirencester for the hare festival.

Create a Singing Bowl

A meditative process with a master craftsman. Under Ton's friendly, professional supervision you will learn the technique of forging to create your own singing bowl. The rhythm of metal work, the heat of the forge and the alchemical process of shaping your own instrument in an outdoor studio offers a unique combination of physical and spiritual engagement.

Contemporary glass artist, Stevie Davies, will be showcasing a new series of works which she has created in her studio at Banks Mill. The exhibition has been developed from a series of photos which have been translated into mixed media artworks, primarily made using fused glass techniques and metals.
