Summer Show 2017: Myths & Legends

This year our theme for the Summer Show has been inspired by the national campaign within Wales to celebrate the Year of Legends. Our focus is on contemporary craft and applied art that shows individuality and innovation in the maker's approach to the work, a technical mastery of the medium and a sense of design.

Anna Lambert Ceramic Showcase

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
Anna has been creating her distinctive earthenware since 1980. Using a range of techniques including altered clay slabs, modelling, slip and underglaze painting and various simple printmaking methods, Anna Lambert has developed her hand built forms to reflect a connection with her locality and to the fragile and constantly changing environment.

Craftsmen at the Priory

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
The Craftsmen at the Priory exhibition will take over the Dacre Hall at Lanercost for most of August and is open every day from 10am to 5pm.
Featuring the work of 14 artists and designer makers, the exhibition will include photographs, paintings, textiles, jewellery, metal work, glass, sculpture, cabinet making and ceramics and there will be a selection of work on sale throughout.

Hothouse 2017: Spot the Talent

Maker in Focus: Mandy Cheng: The Graceful Minimalist

Neil McBride - Crowdscapes

Witherslack Artists and Makers Group

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
The Witherslack Artists and Makers Group began to exhibit in this Cumbrian village's Church Hall in the early 1990s.
The event has grown from a core group based in Witherslack to involve other local artists and craftspeople too. This year's guest artists are Ian Parker and Jan Huntley Peace.
The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 5pm with teas served in the village at weekends.

Handmade at Kew 2017

Following the storming success since its launch in 2015, Handmade in Britain will return to Kew Gardens for the third edition of HANDMADE AT KEW in October 2017.
The event is housed in an elegant pavilion next to Kew Palace and tickets to the event include entry to both the event and Kew Gardens, allowing you to enjoy the Gardens and crafts to the full. It's a truly a unique shopping experience.
