Rising Stars 2017

Rising Stars is a platform to view and collect some of the most exciting new craft by emerging makers from crafts and applied arts programmes across the UK. This curated exhibition is accompanied by professional development and a cash prize. In the past, many of the selected exhibitors have gone on to a high profile career and elite programmes such as Hothouse supported by the Crafts Council.

Still Life Print Exhibition

Two printmakers come together to explore the theme of Still Life. Continually inspired by plants, objects and the animals that surround her, Vicky Oldfield's collagraph prints are an atmospheric response to the beauty and drama of her daily life. Meanwhile Yorkshire printmaker and painter Sarah Du Feu creates richly coloured multi layered unique prints (pictured).

Superbowls: Interpretations of an ageless design

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
Geoffrey Swindell has curated this exhibition for the Makers Guild in Wales. Geoffrey has invited fourteen UK artists working in clay to create work for Superbowls. The only guidelines being that the objects should be essentially shallow, hollow containers and connect stylistically to individual interests and current work as artists and designers. Syann Van Niftrik: Dropped

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
Dropped' is the result of a time based collaboration between Syann Van Niftrik, a filmmaker, a potter and an archaeologist. The potter makes two bowls, one is dramatically broken and reassembled by the archaeologist. The potter and the archaeologist are filmed, speaking about their thoughts as they work. The words from the film are then written on the pristine and reconstructed pots.

'Water & Music' Contemporary Glass Society selected exhibition

Creatures Great and Small - Exhibition - Tracey Benton and Gwen Vaughan

Event Type: Gallery Exhibition
At one time or another we have all had our hearts touched by fury or feathered friends. And so have our talented artists Gwen Vaughan and Tracey Benton. Tracey works with felt and her favourite subject is our native wildlife. Gwen, a ceramic artist is equally captivated by creatures great and small. Her quirky animals are captured with minimalistic features nevertheless they are very recognisable.
