Rust Marks in Textile Art

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Join textile Artist Alice Fox and discover the potential for using found rust marks from rusty objects for printing and dyeing on paper and fabric. Using an experimental approach and found metal, we will explore methods for transferring marks from rusty metal onto papers and fabrics.

Make a lovely 14" high Hare in a choice of either soft brown fibers or blended Herdwick greys, with a clever 'sand filled inside' so making it sit beautifully! Incls a lovely 2 course Aga lunch.

Furniture Painting Techniques

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Under Sonja Tileard's guidance and working on simple boards you will learn the various techniques of using chalk paints including distressing and waxing techniques that will be explained,shown and practiced.
Students can then work on their own small piece of furniture such as a picture frame or a small stool, chair, tiny table etc and renovate it after lunch using the learned techniques.

Soft Basketry Techniques

Join Averil for the day and learn all about soft basketry techniques, over the course of the day it will be possible to produce several containers, maybe 3 or 4 depending on your choice. A lovely relaxing, productive and 'in touch with nature' day.

Goldwork: Beginner at Manchester Craft Center

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
The class allows students to learn the basics of Goldwork. Techniques to stitch the pearl purl will also be covered. The course will involve how to couch the passing and how to do essing with gold purl.
You will also learn how to make the Diamond motifs with a silver smooth purl and how to do the loops to create the flower. This class includes a kit. Book by: 7 June '18
