This course is suitable for right and left handers and no previous experience is necessary.

Carve a beautiful sculpture for your home or garden in Cotswold stone. This course covers the skills required to carve in relief and in the round. You will learn about the different types of stone appropriate for carving and about the variety of techniques and tools used. The tutor has been sculpting in stone for almost thirty years and is an experienced teacher.
During the two day course you will have the opportunity to make some of the following items woven using willow for your garden - a bird sculpture, dragonflies, plant climbers, lanterns, fan trellis & bird feeders. Taster Days - Metal workshops for learning basic skills in jewellery and enamelling - experienced people or complete beginners are welcome in all my courses. This is a one day event every Thursday. Silver or copper can be used in this class, both lovely for enamelling. Please check my website for other flexible hours that may be more convenient to fit around your working days.
This four day course starts with basic information about working safely with polyester based glass reinforced plastic (aka GRP) and understanding the functions of components (e.g. resin, catalyst and pigments) before moving on to hands-on activities, ranging from gel coat repairs and colour matching to larger hull repairs requiring temporary mould and formers. Make a botanical watercolour of summer flowers. We will cover observational drawing, basic botany of the plants provided, accurate colour mixing & watercolour techniques for both fine detail & washes.
