John O'Meara started collecting ceramics in the 1960's when he moved to London from his home in Ireland. Buying work from artist studios and local galleries his passion for all things clay lasted a lifetime. Moving to Newark, he was a regular visitor to Earth & Fire, meeting potters and adding to his collection. He also developed considerable skill himself, creating work at classes.

Four Thursday evenings each month. Do you need help to understand paper patterns, how to hem, stitch seams, fastenings & make bags? Then this is the class for you. Thread up your machine, correct the tension, use straight stitch, zig-zag, follow a paper pattern & Learn methods of fastenings.
Every Wednesday - four sessions in each month - from 7-9pm. I'll show you how to weave a beautiful wall hanging cascading with colour. We shall look at examples of weaving. You will learn how to make a heddle and how to thread up a box loom.
In this series of workshops we will discover a variety of approaches to drawing. You will learn about the visual principles of art & then practice these skills. This course is aimed at complete beginners who want to use their new sewing machines, those returning to sewing and those who have upgraded their machine and are not sure how it works. Whilst learning all about your machines and stitching techniques you will be able to make a variety of crafted items. Tutor - Pamela Tasker
Learners will have one wheel each. This course covers all techniques from basic beginner level skills such as clay preparation, centring, throwing to cylinder, bowls and turning a foot ring. More advanced learners will be challenged with individual tasks such as lids, spouts and plates etc.
Learn how to design and make jewellery from metal. You will learn the techniques involved in jewellery design and construction. You will become familiar with the appropriate health and safety regulations to promote good studio practice
You will build your proficiency and confidence in handbuilding and/or wheel throwing to produce quality work through a project based assignment using contemporary and historical ceramics for inspiration. Learners will be encouraged to be experimental with surface decoration and glazing
