Abstract Painting Term 3

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Explore abstract art using shapes, forms, gestural marks and the materials and techniques of painting. As a starting point you could be inspired by a subject such as a figure, landscape or objects, or it may have no source at all in the external world. You will be encouraged to take inspiration from other artists? work and at the same time develop your own drawing and painting.

Calligraphy - Non-Traditional Gilding with Real Gold

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Learn to add gold to your artwork or calligraphy with ease. Contemporary gilding can be used sparingly to add sparkle, as a background for watercolour or even as part of a gilded Klimt-style design. You will produce several mini-projects on this course including an Art Deco-style initial which can be framed or used for a greeting card.

Drawing and Painting for Beginners

Eco Dyeing - Pattern from Plants

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Eco dyeing or printing is a fascinating way of transferring the colours and patterns of flowers and leaves onto textiles. This is not a vegetable dyeing course but an exploration into the surprising and delighting effects that can be achieved by wrapping plants in cloth.We will use flowers and leaves from our own gardens, the school garden and surrounding countryside.

Introductory Leadlight - 1 day

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
This course will introduce you to working with glass and lead. You will make a stained glass panel or "light catcher" to hang in your window.
No previous experience required as we cover glass cutting pattern making, stretching lead. Soldering techniques as well as cementing, polishing, tools are also covered.

Make a beautiful tall porcelain vase embellished with your own pretty textures using lace patterns and embroidery with 'spriggs'.

Build a Boat - Initial Set-up

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Set up building frames and construct the backbone for modern and traditional wooden boats. Produce the stem, keel, hog and transom for a small dinghy and fit the components together to form the backbone. The course also covers the theory of setting up for cold moulded, strip planked and carvel builds and includes a workshop tour of the range of boats, at set-up stage, being built by our flagship
