Ceramics Level 3 Certificate

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
This 1 year course is designed to inspire and develop skills at an advanced level. It will teach you to develop research in 2D and translate them through maquettes and models into 3D outcomes. Both functional and sculptural ceramics will be explored. Learners are encouraged to be experimental and develop skills in hand-building, wheel throwing, surface decoration and specialist techniques.

Oil Painting Exploring Mediums and Techniques

Event Type: Craft Course/Workshop
Experiment with various textures and oil painting techniques to develop studies which consider the relationship between positive and negative form and the subject of a painting and its surface. Topics include constructing canvases, priming, preparing grounds (including gesso) and use of dammar varnish and mastic mediums, egg tempera.

Progress With Oil Painting

You will explore the materials and methods of oil painting, traditional and contemporary. Instruction will be given on paint handling, working with varied consistencies of paint and brushwork. Emphasis will be placed upon the art of looking, concentrating upon selection and composition, colour and tonal relationships, the making of a picture.

Ceramics Open Studio Scheme

Printing Taster Day

Learn the basics of three printing techniques; silk screen, transfer printing and block printing. At the end of the day you will leave with several successful prints ready for framing or fabric ready to be stitched into a hand-printed interior accessory.

Students take a City & Guilds 6218 Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills and an optional level 3 qualification.
