The Contemporary Craft Festival, Bovey Tracey wins GOLD for Festival of the Year for the 3rd time

A HAT TRICK at any level is a tremendous accomplishment, so when The Contemporary Craft Festival scooped their third Gold Award for Visit Devon Tourism Event of the Year last week, happiness, appreciation and an uplifting feeling spread across the whole team.

The Contemporary Craft Festival can add another reason to celebrate next year along with preparing to celebrate 15 years of success!

Festival Director, Sarah James who lives in Bovey Tracey, is delighted to have won

“It was a spectacular black-tie dinner at The Guildhall in Plymouth, hosted by Britain’s leading travel commentator Simon Calder. Being in this magnificent venue with other nominated high achieving events, venues and tourist attractions was an honour.  Nerves certainly played a healthy part of the evening but soon turned into jubilation as we were awarded our 3rd Gold Award after a rigorous three-phase judging process!

We work really hard each year to ensure our visitors are inspired and well looked after. We are a small team that work incredibly hard to pull together a large event that is appreciated by nearly 10,000 people each year. “

The Contemporary Craft Festival is one of the finest craft events in Europe, hosted in the pretty Dartmoor town of Bovey Tracey. You can expect a weekend brimming with live action including The Pottery Showdown competition, the Out of the Woods tent which celebrates British woodland craft skills and the magnificent Craft Cinema, hosted in a vintage Bedford Bus. The unique opportunity to meet over 200 makers of contemporary craft is the highlight of the weekend which includes award winning silversmiths, potters, furniture makers, textile artists, glass makers, jewellery and next year includes demonstrations by boat builders and surfboard makers. Great live music fills the air from Devon performers topped off with a wide variety of locally sourced, delicious street food.  The perfect weekend to remember!
