In 2009 the Guild of Enamellers celebrated it's 30th anniversary; it has established a flourishing membership and is a fine example of what can be achieved when like-minded people come together to promote their work and develop new ideas.
craft&design is proud to support the work of the Guild in co-sponsoring the Guild of Enamellers Student Bursary Scheme, which aims to help a young enameller as they start up in business and provides them with Guild Membership for one year, a place at the Guild's Annual Residential Weekend conference, and a comprehensive package of networking and development opportunities.
Winner of the 2010 Bursary Award is Bronagh Mullan, who graduated from Birmingham City University, School of Jewellery. Bronagh skilfully combines traditional enamelling techniques, such as plique a jour, with modern technology, with each piece of jewellery being hand finished. Co-sponsors: W.G. Ball Ltd
This sponsorship supported a young, newly graduated silversmith starting out in business. Anne Davis, was selected to receive the craft&design Sponsorship in conjunction with British Silver Week 2009, which included Business Advice and a 12 month Promotional Package to the value of £2,000. Anne's work is featured in the Nov/Dec 2009 issue issue of craft&design Magazine.
