The craft&design Award at Potfest in the Pens 2011

Ceramics by Christine Cox

Each year we sponsor this ceramics Award, where exhibitors at Potfest are invited to make a special piece to reflect a particular theme. This is regarded as an opportunity for potters to employ different skills and techniques from those they usually work with, a chance to experiment, create an original piece and have fun with clay!

There were some truly imaginative pieces created in response to the 2011 competition theme of ‘Marking Time’, but it was the entry by Christine Cox, entitled ‘Core Samples, Marking Geological Time’, which for us stood out as being particularly original and relevant to the sentiment of the theme.

There was huge support for our choice when we announced it at the show, many potters saw it as a timely recognition of Christine’s dedication not only to her own work, but also of her and Geoff’s continuous support of potters in the UK and abroad.

Christine's work will be the front cover feature for the July/August 2012 issue of craft&design Magazine.

craft&design supports the aims of ACID - Anti Copying In Design Anti Copying In Design
What I like most about craft&design, is its longevity and broad reaching appeal to anyone with any nuance of creativity.

It has been ever present in my family since issue 1 and is still the only magazine which is read by them all, young and old.
