We are proud to have sponsored this award at bctf since 1996 and take great pleasure in seeing so many of our previous winners now working as successful professional designer-makers in the British craft industry. Each year we select a Winner and Highly Commended from the exhibitors in the Newcomers Gallery at bctf. Judging is based on originality and skill in design and making, presentation and design of exhibition stand at bctf, business skills and ability. Both makers receive substantial promotional and marketing benefits as part of the Award, plus business support for 12 months.
craft&design Newcomer Award Winner at the British Craft Trade Fair 2012
Laura’s quirky contemporary jewellery and silverware shows technical skill and craftsmanship together with a sense of fun and innovation. Her designs are unusual and appealing, a combination of originality of thought with an awareness of what might be attractive to buyers.
Laura’s award comprises 12 months marketing and promotional support from craft&design to the value of £3,000, which includes a front cover feature and a one-to-one mentoring session with Rachael Chambers, craft&design’s Contemporary Craft Editor.

Nick Ozanne is a handweaver with a meticulous approach to all aspects of his work. He was Highly Commended for the technical skill and beautiful quality of his work and his presentation and display at bctf.
Nick will receive 12 months of marketing and promotional support from craft&design to the value of £1,800, which includes a 3 page feature in the magazine.
