craft&design is an exciting and vibrant magazine all about British Crafts, with 100 pages of up to the minute features and down to earth information. Developed from Craftsman Magazine and now in its 25th year, craft&design is published by a small family business run by Angie & Paul Boyer. They have worked the UK craft industry since 1981 and have a wealth of knowledge as publishers, designers, makers and event organisers. More than anything, they have a sincere passion to help people working in crafts to earn a living from their skills – be it makers, gallery owners, designers, exhibition and event organisers. craft&design magazine is a must for people interested or involved in British Crafts - each colourful issue is sounding the trumpet for British makers!
There's lots of information here on the craft&design website as well; find out about Craft Events & Exhibitions near you; discover more about Craft Galleries, where they are and what they sell; click on our Craft Supplies Directory for materials & equipment; take a creative break at Craft Courses & Workshops; and if you're a maker and fancy meeting other like-minded craftspeople, go to our Guilds page for lots of contacts.
Featuring the work of two award winning glass artists from the British Glass Biennale 2008 - Robyn Smith’s extraordinary glass curtains and distinctive glass chandeliers by James Lethbridge. Also in this issue: Andrew Geoghegan’s very special jewellery; spectacular blown glass by Will Shakspeare; stylish tableware by designer silversmith Anne Davis; and Riitta Sinkkonen Davies’ traditional spinning and weaving with flax.
There’s work by some of the UK’s top glass artists in this issue’s Glass Makers Gallery - Peter Layton, Adam Aaronson, Abinger Stained Glass, E&M Glass and many more. Or if you fancy having a go yourself, read all about the exciting Glass Courses offered by The Liquid Glass Centre. And still with Glass, we look back at the remarkable life of Dan Klein and the Memorial Fund that’s been set up in his name to support the continuing development of his legacy, North Lands Creative Glass.
We find out how Design Space in Birmingham helps jewellery businesses, we head west to visit the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, and we preview ‘Desire’, the Jewellery and Silversmithing Fair at Winchester where some of the UK’s major designer makers, such as Rachel Gogerly and Martin Pugh, will be exhibiting their work.
Whatever your craft interests, our Directory of Craft Supplies will help you to source your materials and equipment, whilst the listings of Craft Fairs and Gallery Exhibitions will point you in the right direction to enjoy some truly creative Christmas shopping!
